What I understand from the research around this when I wrote it a few year ago was that the Navy had a program through which the first women in the Coast Guard were trained, and that Sara was the first to complete the program as run by the Coast Guard. Kelly and Jody were part of the Navy program. In no way should Sara’s accomplishments detract from the incredible work and trailblazing of Kelly and Jody. As a side, if you have contact with Kelly and she’s interested, I’d be thrilled to talk with her, as I enjoyed the opportunity to talk with Jody.
